Psalm 1:2 - Delighting in Gods Truth

"But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night."

Bible The Blessed person finds great delight and pleasure in God's law.

They deeply value and hold precious the Law of God and following it. They are "oh so happy", because they know their life is aligned with that which is God's will and that their inner being is in sync with the the very heart and statutes of God our maker.

Genuine joy and and overflow of happiness, only comes when we know the experience of walking in deep intimacy with God. When we know we are aligned with the things that please God, and that our inner life is feeding upon Him and His truth, there is a sense of freedom that transcends all circumstance.

The blessed man or woman is "blessed" because they hunger for the law so much that they make it their food and drink. They ponder and meditate day and night, so that the fresh living truth of God can impregnate every cell of their brain, every aspect of their being and thought life.

Unfortunately most of us are so busy we do not take the time to spend inordinate amounts of time pondering God and His word. We do not create the margin it takes in our prayer and meditation closet, to really cultivate the intimacy with God that brings indescribable blessing.

As a result we are prime targets for discouragement, pushed around in our inner thoughts by any adversity or difficult circumstances we encounter. Defeat and discouragement reign rather than transcendent blessing and joy.

There is a cleansing effect and a strengthening to our inner man as a result of consistently meditating and pondering God's word.

In fact, the ability "to discern", David speaks of in verse one, and "to resist the counsel of the wicked and the fellowship of the scoffers", is a direct result of the spiritual intake of God's law through meditation and hiding His word in our heart.

We were made to walk in joy and happiness. There is a huge reservoir of inner freedom, happiness and confidence of soul that is waiting to be tapped into. But there is a price to be paid, just as in any relationship. We have to spend the time it takes to know Jesus, just like we have to do with any other living person we want to understand and draw close to.

May God help us to say no to the constant din of other voices and demands we face daily, and say yes to His consistent call to fellowship. He waits daily ...ready to show us new truths ... ready to impart strength and revelation, that will bring us into a season of walking in continual joy and blessing!

Lord I pray today you would slow me down. Unclutter the things that scream for my attention. Give me the margin to carve out the time to hear you speak. Transform my skewed thinking and reprogram the lies that have long held captive my inner thoughts. Bring me truth and a fresh word from you. I want to know the blessing and the happiness of knowing your thoughts are now my thoughts. I want the the joy of knowing that I am set free by truth and that my heart is aligned with yours.

Psalm 1:1 - The Blessing of Dependence on God

"Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. "

Blessing and overflowing Joy are the result of moral purity.

The literal sense is "Oh how happy", is the man that doesn't walk in the counsel of the wicked.

The blessed man is blessed because he holds his ground and stands against the ways and paths of the wicked.

Fork The blessed man is blessed because he has enough discernment and resolve that he can tell when counsel is wicked and he refuses in his spirit to be drawn in that direction.

The blessed man never sits and makes company with those who scoff and cause derision with their mouths.

Blessing is his reward and result because the man of conviction stands alone with his God and no person can sway him into anything that would displease the heart of his God.

He is blessed because he knows he wears the covering of God's approval and he is pleasing to God. Blessing and happiness come from being clean before God and knowing that God is overjoyed and proud of you because of your impeccable character.

Lord let me hold my ground today against the things that would woo me away from your righteous statutes. May my thoughts and intentions and the passion of my heart be for your holiness in all I do and let me know the happiness and joy of knowing I have put a smile on your face and have warmed your heart today because you know nothing matters to me more than pleasing you.
